Oak base have been extremely busy this half term and we have been learning so many new skills.

From cooking, measuring and counting to visiting the school orchard and telling stories.

This term our topic is called Let’s Grow.

During this topic we will be reading the stories ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’

We will be:

• Trying a selection of different fruits and making our own fruit salads
• Growing our own beanstalks
• Using puppets and props to retell the stories
• Practicing how to write our names and the names of some of the fruits
• Weighing, measuring and comparing fruits and beanstalks

How you can help at home:

• Try a variety of different fruits and discuss what they tasted like and looked like, what parts you could and couldn’t eat and which ones you liked and why?
• Share the above stories together and discuss the main events and characters
• practice writing your name and number 1-10 (see the links below for some fun ideas on how to help write your name)
• Make any notes on the stickers provided and send them in to school!

This term Oak base have been learning about farms.On Monday 13th June they will be going to Honeybrook farm. They will be learning about the different jobs of the animals, animals and their young and  people who help us.

Oak have bean reading a book called the leopard`s drum it looks very good

Oak Base’s topic at the moment is Let’s Go. They have been learning about Africa.In these lessons Oak have been doing the Leopards drum. They have learnt how to play the drums.

In Oak Base we have been learning about The Leopard’s Drum.In maths we’ve been designing a new shell for Achi-cheri the tortoise by using different shapes.

This week Oak Base have had an exciting time, meeting The Night Zookeeper and meeting some of the interesting animals that live in the Night Zoo, such as the Spying Giraffe!

To add to our animal theme we have been lucky enough to have been visited by dogs, lizards, snakes, rats, rabbits and cockroaches! The children have loved stroking them different animals and feeling the different textures of their fur, scales and skin,
