Last week, we thoroughly enjoyed the innovative performance of Shakespeare’s famous play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In particular, we enjoyed the strong characters of the fairies: Oberon – the King; Titania – the Queen and Puck – the mischievous sprite. In Maple 2, we are planning to write our own narratives inspired by this play. To get ourselves warmed up, today’s challenge is to write a simple poem about one of these characters.
Remember to use some of the pronouns we have been learning about; remember to think carefully about your word choices so that your words paint a picture of your character in your reader’s mind.
Titania
She is like a neon rainbow glowing from the mystic lights of the North Pole.
She hovers in the misty silence breaking it with her strident voice.
She is like a never-ending piece of string-an immortal soul that is filled with intelligence.
Her courage keeps her land alive and keeps the citizens faithful by fracturing the darkness.

She is like a beautiful daffodil worth millions,
she is a flower of the light,
her love is stronger than lightning,
she is a golden star slinking into the moon-light,
her silky hair is like thousands of glow bugs,
she is a fairy who can be kind yet arrogant at times,

PUCK
He is a resplendent leaf ,
Gliding in the mist ,
He is a swirl of mystery ,
Hurricaning leaves in the forest cauldron ,
He is a spark of inspiration ,
Waiting for some vigilance .
He is in a world of trickery ,
Abiding by Oberon’s every word ,
He is a forest-disguised elf with a cloak of leaves ,
He is a ball of flames ,
Ready to rise up in mischief .
Titania
Her hair is a chocolaty brown,
Cascading around her pale face.
Her eyes are ecstatic blue,
Scrutinising her surroundings with a sharp glare.
She has iridescent wings,
Which fly her where she demands.
Her dress is a ghostly white,
Covering her body completely.

He is an amusing joke,
Hysterically laughing in the night.
He is a wild predator stalking his prey,
His eyes are like neon shining through dusk,
Creating Dawn.
Crimson hair hovering over his dome of magic,
Dyed by the Autumn leaves.
He is a cobweb of emotions,
Created by a manipulative King.
Puck
He is a mischievous sprite getting up to nothing but trouble.
He is in a world of trickery which is ruled by Oberon the king.
He is in a trap that is impossible to escape,
Oberon’s voice is the key.
He is the perfect one to blame as his life is full of it.
He is a ball of fire waiting to be put out.
He is trouble and his name is Puck.

She is a powerful woman; prioritised to protect a boy.
She is like the vanilla sand gently hovering over the sea’s bed.
Ready to explode from a argument in a Lincoln-green bush.
She is a morel fairy ruling the forest ground.
Titania:
she is like a radiant fairy in the sun,
she is like a butterfly in the mid sky,
she is like a bird in a tree,
she is like a crown in a palace shining in the light,
she is like dazzling sun in the mid day,
she is a ravishing sleeping beauty,
Titania is like a lightning flash,
she is the queen of love and nothing is more powerfull than her.
Puck:
He is a mischievous young sprite flying high in the midnight breeze,
He is in misty clouds
That floats through a bewildered sky,
He is a sharp flash of fierce lightning bolt,
The boy is as arrogant as King Kong,
Titania:
She is like a glittering star
twinkling in the midnight sky;
she is like a butterfly
flying in the breeze.
She is as calm as the air,
circling around us.
She is like a fragile feather,
falling to the ground;
her smile makes the world joy fall.
Puck
He is a mischievous sprite worming into the darkness of the forlorn forest…
He hunts in the dingy times of the night on the manky floors of the forest…
And his appearance is nothing to be desired as he has grassy olive green leaves as his clothes so they are clearly visible in the day but can also provides camouflage,but his blood red hair will counter that camouflage…
And his leggings are covered in Celtic symbols like he’s ready for battle…

He is a sneaky thief,
Making chaos beyond belief.
He is a sneaky thief,

He is a misty cloud,
That races through a bewildered crowd.
He is a shard of inspiration,
chasing without caution.

zooming through the night.
She is like a caring child,
falling from heaven.
She is like a flower of light,
spilling on the ground.

She is like a contented flower of light that makes you smile even if you don’t want to smile .
She is like a treasure ready to be looked after in good hands .
She is like a candle on a birthday cake ,which every one is frenzied to blow out on their birthday .
She is that friend who gives you hope and never lets you down .

She is like an intense satellite ,
floating in a bewildering sky ,
She is like a still water ,
resting amongst the rocks ,
She is a star ,
glistening behind the sun ,
ready to exit Oberon’s potion .
PUCK
His thorny hair, standing up like a raging BEAR fighting for salmon in the raw sea ,
his leafy robes glisten in the pure sun light , like a fresh picked tangerine
his graceful holly shaped wings let him soar across the blue sky
his lemon green shoes with a curly front

Giving orders to her poor subjects,

As she enchants the forest.

He is a silhouette that dwindles into the gloom,
The hairs of his head are the spikes of a porcupine struck by electricity,
His turquoise eyes glisten in the glaze of the amber coated sun.
His ears shaped like a sharp pointed spear,
His wings like webs of a spider,
Titania:
She is a pretty one-of-a-kind person,
who can be very kind at times,
she loves her family and friends a lot,
she is like a golden, lovely princess
A kind women who will never let anyone down.
